About Us

Feminists with a sense of humour you say? Yes that's right! Meet Cath and Rosie Tate of Cath Tate Cards.

The mother and daughter team run Cath Tate Cards together with the help of their small (and brilliant!) team in South London.

40 years ago, Cath, with a keen interest in photography and spurred on by her left wing, feminist politics, sat down at her kitchen table and started producing her own political photomontage artwork. She also knew many political/ satirical women cartoonists who were producing work that had little or no exposure.

In the 1980's Cath decided to start publishing her own work and the work of these cartoonists on postcards and Cath Tate Cards was born. In 2011 Rosie Tate decided to brave joining the family business (despite the possibility of bickering with her mother!) found it worked well and has never left.

As far as Cath and Rosie are concerned, a sense of humour is essential for survival; they always try to see the funny side of life as busy working women and mothers. Together, they are often the wordsmiths behind the captions and their only real rule is that every card they publish has to be either funny or beautiful and preferably both!

Cath Tate Cards can now be found across the UK in small retailers and larger multiples alike and internationally in the US, New Zealand, Australia and Canada and even across the channel in translation, with French language cards in wide distribution across France.

As well as online you can find our cards on the highstreet and in your local independent. Get in touch at info@cathtatecards.com to find your nearest Cath Tate Cards stockist.

Meet Our Artists & Designers

Cath Tate Cards publish work from the likes of funny illustrator Veronica Dearly, well-known mum blogger Katie of Hurrah for Gin, hand drawn celebrity illustrations Modern Icons by Northern lass ‘Wotmalike’and hand painted 'seeded' cards by artist and horticulturalist Charlotte Day which are printed on handmade paper and embedded with wildflower seeds that you can plant when you’ve finished with the card!

Cath Tate Cartoons remain close to our hearts and is still a strong range for us today as we continue to work with an amazing team of (predominantly women) contemporary designers and artists.
