Bath, Somerset

And lastly, the ultimate spot to visit as a fan of Jane Austen is the city she loved: Bath in Somerset. Jane lived there for a number of years and the city inspired the settings in both Northanger Abbey and Persuasion.

If you're visiting Bath as a Jane Austen enthusiast, you must visit:

The Jane Austen Centre - an informative museum with a walk-through exhibition and all the photo ops - there's even a spot for afternoon tea upstairs

Bath's Assembly Rooms - this is the very spot where the high flyers of society socialised during Jane's years in Bath - including the author herself!

Sydney Gardens - the subject of many of Jane's letters to her sister Cassandra, Sydney Gardens are close to where she lived and is still a beautiful area to explore

More Film Locations - Bath Abbey has been featured in many Austen adaptations for Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. Other filming locations include the iconic Royal Crescent, Bath Street and Brock Street.
