Artist in Focus: Charlotte Day - Beautifully Botanical
Gardener turned illustrator Charlotte Day has a deep-rooted fascination with all things floral. She trained with the British Royal Horticultural Society before studying at the Chelsea College of Art and specialises in botanically inspired artwork. Her intricate hand-painted designs have found a home on packaging, book covers and editorial work alike. Charlotte’s illustrations reflect her loe of nature and her underlying philosophy toward sustainability. After being based in London for some years, she left the big smoke to be closer to nature and now lives in the quiet Essex countryside with her partner and her beloved dog Ida.
We teamed up with Charlotte in 2017 to create a range of occasions and number birthday cards and the range has proved very popular across the board. A lot of thought goes into each design, with Charlotte using her skill and botanical expertise to perfectly match the flower and arrangement to the sentiment on each greeting card. Each floral design appears to grow around the gold lettering and is illuminated against a pale or midnight blue background.
Equally as popular have been the Charlotte’s festively floral Christmas card designs and this year one of them has made it onto the Royal Mail Isle of Man Christmas stamps!
We’re very excited to be launching a new range with Charlotte in January 2020: Charlotte Day Seeded which will comprise initially of six A6 greetings cards on seeded paper. The cards can be planted after use and will grow into bee-friendly wildflowers. Watch this space!
